Deadlift clinic recap

I recently completed the first three week run of barbell fundamental clinics at Brooklyn Training Hall. These are designed for beginners but really open to all skill levels. I tried to find a good balance of easily digestible information that was effective and executable. By the third clinic, the deadlift clinic, I think I settled into a groove that will be the formula for these going forward.

The challenge in a group setting is my impulse to try and tweak each individual’s technique in a highly detailed manner. This just isn’t possible when you’re working with a group of 10 or more people. The sweet spot is to think about the broader technical components that are most broadly applicable. In this case it was how to find a correctly leveraged starting position, center of mass control and foot pressure, and the root of an effective movement pattern.

I’m positive that every single person that attended the seminar had a eureka moment and by the end of the practical there were very tangible differences in each lifters technique.

We’re going to run this three week course again in March and open it up to the public. I will make the registration available when I have it!
